Michael Mann maybe the most GIFTED director of our times who knows how his camera works. He knows about lighting , sublime effects of dark nights and street lights and change in camera angles as the mood of the movie changes subtly.

There are lot of movies you just go after watching the trailers irrespective of any other thing. In this case I watched an old trailer of HEAT by Mann after watching the movie. Well it made me watch it again !!
The two most electrifying performers on the American screen DE NIRO & AL PACINO together for the first time is enough to take you to the theatres. Isn't it ?
But the winner here are not the actors , neither the gripping plot but the genius director Michael Mann.
Its a school lesson for budding folks who wanna take their chances with direction in future.
1) Art of story telling and connecting the dots.
2) Getting best out of each and every character and just not sailing on De Niro & Pacino's giant presence.
3) Haunting Camera angles & brilliant background score.
4) Flawless Dialogues and Editing which will keep you on your seats and you would never mind the long 3 hours but only ask for more.

The plot's simple a cop chasing a crew who take scores and work like a close knit family. How he manages to nab them and how the life's of all inloved is getting affected.

Hands down the best Cop - Crook movie I have seen till date. Maybe L.A. Confidential would come close but HEAT is the winner.
Ther's a line in the movie that's nearly became the way I see life :
" All I am is what I am going After ? "

This is one movie to Die for.
